My name is Jackie Bowen and I founded A Dog’s Best Friend April 2007, as dogs are my passion, and I truly adore each and every dog, no matter what size or breed they are. I know I wouldn’t hire a Dog Walker that I couldn’t trust to look after my dogs, so this isn’t just a job for me, it is what I love!
I am currently studying for a HND in Canine Care & Behaviour and so far I have gained Distinction for Primary Certificate for Canine Care, and will be studying for many more years.
If you are anything like me, your dogs aren’t just your dogs, they are your babies, your best friend and they mean the world to you. I love my dogs as if they were my children and I only want the best for them and so this is why I established A Dog’s Best Friend.
As a lifelong Dog Owner, and having grown up around dogs, and currently owned by 3 of the little terriers, you will have peace of mind, knowing that yours are in safe & caring hands, with someone that truly loves dogs.
I do not use vans fitted with cages as this is not how I would want my boys to travel, I believe that dogs should be able to look out of the windows, so I use my own vehicle [4 x 4] that has a Dog Guard for the larger breeds, or dogs that are more comfortable travelling in the back of a car, or your dog will be transported and harnessed in safely on the seats, or if you have alternative preferences then this will also be accommodated. Your dog is never transported in my vehicle for more than 30 mins before or after their walk. I have also adapted the windows to give your dog more protection againist the harmful UV rays, and of course the vehicle has air-conditioning.
I work to your dogs needs, not my own!
I walk Monday - Friday, whatever the weather [except Thunderstorms, for the dogs own sanity!] and each of my walks will always be loads of fun & exercise for your dog.
The walks are at local Country Parks, so they have the adventure of different sights & smells, but to add to this I always have extra toys, such as Frisbees or Balls, I don’t like to allow dogs to chew on sticks as this can cause nasty splinters & cause serious injuries.
I will always insist that all your dogs’ vaccinations must be up to date, and I will request to see the vaccination cards, before I accept any dogs for walks.
I am sorry but I can’t accept bitches in season
